History

We operate two companies The Maritime Consultancy Ltd and Shipowners' P&I Services Ltd whose services complement each other and enable us to provide a wide range of marine surveying services.

  • In 1993 The Maritime Consultancy Ltd was established under the leadership of Capt. F. David Routledge with the aim of providing first class marine surveying and consultancy services.
  • With the success of The Maritime Consultancy Ltd., Shipowners' P&I Services Ltd was launched in 1995 in partnership with a local shipping agency and law firm to act as commercial correspondents to P& I clubs.
  • Capt. Routledge took over effective control of Shipowners' P&I Services Ltd in 2006. He then went on to complete the purchase of the company from his partners in 2009.

Staff

Chairman

Capt. F. David Routledge has been Chairman since 2012. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of The Maritime Consultancy Ltd, and Shipowners' P&I Services Ltd. He graduated from Robert Gordon's Technical College Aberdeen in 1963 with a Foreign Going Master's Certificate.

From 1963 – 1966 Capt. Routledge served in the capacities of Master, and 1st Mate with the Middle East Navigational Aids Services. He then moved on to Waha Oil Company of Libya in 1966 where he served in various positions ranging from Mooring Master to Marine Superintendent in charge of marine and terminals operations. He left in 1992 after serving as Marine Co-ordinator.

In 1993 Capt. Routledge launched The Maritime Consultancy Ltd., and in 1995 Shipowners' P&I Services Ltd. He is a member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, Fellow of the Nautical Institute & Fellow of the Energy Institute. He reads and writes both French and Spanish. He is author of the Monograph, Mono Moorings for Mariners which has been used as a text book for many years.

Managing Director

Mr. Errol Williams has been Managing Director since 2012. He graduated from University of Technology Jamaica in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Computing and Information Technology. He further obtained a Diploma in Marine Surveying from Lloyds' Maritime Academy (North West Kent College).

Mr. Williams joined The Maritime Consultancy Ltd., and Shipowners' P&I Services Ltd in 2007. During his tenure he has overseen the day to day operation of both companies. In addition to his administrative duties he has carried out numerous marine surveys and investigations.

Senior Surveyors

Capt. André Smith
Capt. André Smith has over 25 years of experience in the shipping industry. He has completed numerous courses including a command Diploma from the Nautical Institute, P & I insurance Diploma from North of England P& I, GMDSS license from Plymouth Institute of Higher education and IMO Examiners Diploma from Jamaica Maritime Institute. He is a member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners and a member of the International Association of Ship Masters Federation.

Carlos Yglesias Mildenstein
Mr. Carlos Antonio Yglesias Mildenstein is a Naval Architect with over 40 years of experience. He graduated from Technikum Budoma Okretow/Stoczni Gdanskiej Institute in Poland in 1969, where he obtained a certificate in Production Engineer, Shipbuilding and Repairs. He later obtained a Diploma in Naval Mechanical Engineering from the Cuban Navy Academy. He has also completed a course in post grade on design of Internal Combustion Engines (CUJAE – CUBA).

Mr. Mildenstein is very fluent in English, Spanish and Polish; he also reads and writes these languages very well. He also speaks French.
